The Obagi Blue Radiance Peel is a superficial, salicylic acid-based peel used to provide deep exfoliation and help improve overall complexion. This peel produces a smoother and more illuminated looking skin. Its anti inflammatory properties help to minimize breakouts, improve fine lines. For best results a course of 3- 6 treatments is recommended.
Each Obagi Blue Radiance Peel treatment will last approximately 30 minutes. During which, the skin will be thoroughly cleansed and prepared. A solution that removes oil from the skin is applied followed by a peel. Your skin will likely feel very warm during treatment, the practitioner will then neutralise the peel solution and apply appropriate soothing product and high SPF. In the days following the procedure, patients should expect the dead skin cells skin to gently flake away to reveal a brighter complexion. This may take between 4-7 days. Further treatment may be advised dependent on results.
The Obagi Radiance Blue Peel Treatment is suitable for the majority of skin types and can be used to improve the condition of a range of skin complaints including acne, photo damage and pigmentation. However certain darker skin types including Mediterranean, Asian, and African may have to use additional produce prior to the treatment to minimise side effects such as post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation , therefore a consultation is strongly advised.
It is common to experience some degree of heat / tingling during the Obagi Blue Radiance Peel treatment however in most cases this will be mild.
This is a superficial peel that effects the top skin layer and the level of skin flaking varies. Some people using acid based skincare or Retinol products may peel more lightly than those who use exfoliating product less. Usually flaking occurs on day 3-4 post peel and lasts between 4-7 days. Using a flannel to remove dead skin will aid the process.
