Dermal filler injections are a popular treatment at the Karidis clinic, with most patients choosing to have the treatment to reduce the appearance of lines and smooth wrinkles. How do you know if they are right for you?
Dermal fillers are the best solution to treat those who suffer from wrinkles, folds and depressions in the skin. However, the suitability of each patient will be determined prior to the treatment.
The substance used is a form of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural chemical found in the body, and can be injected into the skin to improve aesthetics.
The most popular and well known dermal fillers are Restylane, which I tend to use for my patients and Juvederm.
Restylane is an injectable gel comprised of non-animal stabilised Hyaluronic acid (NASHA), which mainly consists of complex sugar chains that have been stabilised for a longer lasting effect in the skin. It is biodegradable and is non-permanent.
Once injected into the skin, the hyaluronic acid replenishes and revitalises the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines to give a softer look. Dermal fillers can also be injected into the lips to enhance fullness.
The treatment is very quick, with results lasting from 6 to 18 months depending on the filler used.
