A signature K lift is a viable option ahead of a full surgical procedure such as a facelift.

Many areas of the body can be treated with a signature K lift, depending on your requirements and desired outcome. Popular treatments include:

  • Lower facelift and necklift
  • Ultherapy
  • CoolSculpting fat reduction

Would I benefit from a lower facelift and necklift?

If you have noticed slack skin, visible jowls and deep lines around your nose and mouth, a lower facelift may be ideal. Designed to rectify visible signs of ageing, the procedure eliminates excess fat, removes sagging skin and tightens the facial muscles.

The overall efficacy of a lower facelift can be increased through the simultaneous use of non-surgical treatments such as dermal fillers and injectable skin smoothers.

The procedure can also be combined with an eye lift or forehead lift.

What does the lower facelift procedure involve?

A discreet incision is made behind the top of the ear at the hairline, running over the natural crease at the front, behind the earlobe and behind the ear. From this incision, the skin is then lifted, the facial muscles are tightened and the blood vessels are sealed.

Any excess or loose skin is removed, then stitched with dissolvable stitches. Mr Karidis is famed for his minimal scarring techniques.

Am I suitable for a lower facelift?

A thorough consultation at the clinic will determine your suitability for the procedure, with your individual medical history key to the outcome.

Medical issues that may mean you are unsuitable for the procedure include:

  • High blood pressure
  • Blood clotting issues
  • A history of excessive scarring
  • Being excessively overweight

If you smoke, you will be advised to quit at least 4 weeks pre-surgery, with a period of at least 4 weeks after the surgery smoke-free. Smoking decreases blood flow, which may impede healing and increase scarring.

Those aged 40 and above are usually most suited to the procedure, although it can be performed on younger patients.

What is ultherapy?

Also known as a non-surgical facelift, ultherapy lifts any loose or sagging skin on the neck, under the chin and on the brows. The treatment is also ideal for targeting any wrinkles and lines on the chest and decolletage to achieve a fresher appearance.

Am I suitable for ultherapy?

If you have noticed a degree of moderate skin laxity and you wish to increase firmness and volume without having a full face lift, ultherapy is the ideal solution. If you have more advanced skin laxity, a facelift may be more effective.

Those in their thirties and early forties often see the best results from the procedure.

How does ultherapy work?

Ultrasound therapy from a handheld device precisely heats deep tissues without disturbing the skin’s surface. The tissues are ‘remodelled’, which leads to firming, tightening of the skin and facial muscles and the formation of new collagen and elastin.

The procedure takes between 60 and 90 minutes.

Is ultherapy painful?

Mild to moderate pain may be experienced as the ultrasound is administered, but this will depend on your individual pain threshold.

Painkillers administered 45 minutes before your treatment may help, with the added benefit of gas and air (Entonox) available if you experience a strong level of discomfort.

Are there any side effects from ultherapy?

Ultherapy is a non-invasive procedure, so there is no lengthy downtime. You may experience mild sensitivity or tenderness after the treatment, with a possibility of swelling. You should be back to normal within 24 hours.

When will I see the effects of ultherapy?

You should start to see an improvement in your skin tone within 3 – 8 weeks after your procedure. A noticeable decrease in sagging and increased elasticity should be visible within a few months, with optimum results visible 6 – 8 months after the procedure.

What is CoolSculpting fat reduction?

CoolSculpting fat reduction technology gently and effectively targets fat cells underneath the skin while leaving the skin itself unaffected, using precisely controlled cooling.

The treated fat cells are frozen, then they die. Over time, your body naturally eliminates these dead fat cells.

What does the procedure involve?

A gel pad and applicator are applied to the targeted area, then vacuum powered applicators draw the tissue into the applicator cup. You may feel a pulling, tugging or mild pinching sensation.

Controlled cooling is then delivered to the targeted fat cells, which may feel intensely cold. This sensation typically subsides as the area becomes numb, usually within 10 minutes.

After the procedure, you will be able to return to your normal activities.

How quickly does CoolSculpting work?

While some patients may see results within 3 weeks of their session, lasting results are usually seen within 1-3 months after treatment.
