The impact of COVID on cosmetic surgery revealed

Virtual Cosmetic Surgery Consultation

New data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons gives an interesting insight into what the cosmetic surgery sector may look like post-quarantine. The organisation conducted a survey of their members to understand what changes they are incorporating into their practices and to try gauge if there had been a shift in demand when it comes to treatments and procedures.

Overwhelmingly, telemedicine or virtual consultations had exploded in popularity. This is a trend we’ve seen in Karidis Clinic – see below for more information on our Zoom & Telephone Consultations and why we’re continuing to offer them post-lockdown.

Top 5 most sought-after treatments

  1. Wrinkle Smoothing: 65%
  2. Breast Augmentation: 44%
  3. Dermal Fillers: 37%
  4. Liposuction: 30%
  5. Abdominoplasty: 24%

Today marks 100 days of lockdown here in the UK, so it’s no surprise that non-invasive aesthetic treatments such as Botox and Dermal Fillers are in demand as their results are only temporary.

Breast augmentation and lipo were last year’s most in-demand cosmetic surgery procedures, so it’s also not surprising they are so popular, but abdominoplasty has surged up the list, maybe reflecting concerns about lockdown weight gain.

It’s encouraging to see this continued interest in more invasive plastic surgery procedures, which indicates patient confidence in the safety measures adopted by plastic surgery clinics – click here if you want us to send you our Karidis Clinic Patient Safety Guide that outlines the measures we have taken thus far to secure your safety.

Virtual cosmetic surgery consultation proving popular

We are continuing to offer virtual cosmetic surgery consultations with Mr Alex Karidis as this two-part flexible consultation has been very popular with our patients while we were closed. The first stage is a virtual meeting with Mr Alex Karidis to discuss your concerns, either by telephone or Zoom.

Mr Karidis will then explain which cosmetic surgery procedure is most appropriate for you and cover any possible risks as well as the benefits.

This will be followed up with an email and call from one of our patient coordinators to ensure you have all the information you need. Then, if you wish to proceed, the second part will be a face-to-face consultation in the clinic now we have reopened. The fee for these consultations is £100 for each part. This will include any follow-up consultations, either by Zoom or telephone or in-person, that you require. These are provided free-of-charge in the first year after your initial consultation.

If you would like to arrange a consultation or wish to find out more, please email us at enquiries@karidis.co.uk or call us on 020 7432 8727.
