Does Profhilo work?

Is profhilo worth it?

What does profhilo do?

Profhilo promises to plump the face without overfilling it and remodel your tissues without changing your face shape. So, surely, it’s the ultimate anti-ageing fix? At Karidis Clinic, we’re passionate about Profhilo and its ability to delay ageing. Still, ageing is an ongoing, dynamic process, and several intrinsic and external factors play a role, so Profhilo is only one of the comprehensive range of non-surgical treatments we offer.

Since its launch in the UK in 2016, Profhilo has fast become the most exciting aesthetic treatment available. Made of 100% pure hyaluronic acid, it not only hydrates the skin but is clinically proven to boost production of collagen and elastin, lifting the skin from within.

So, how does Profhilo compare to creams and serums or against the other leading aesthetic treatments such as Anti-Wrinkle Injections and Dermal Fillers? Is Profhilo worth the money?

Does Profhilo work?

The evidence for Profhilo’s efficacy is based on numerous clinical studies. One study that focused on its ability to improve facial ageing, skin texture, reduce laxity and improve fine wrinkles found that it was proven to be “effective, with a very low rate of complications and no other adverse reactions. Furthermore, it is important to highlight the high level of satisfaction among patients.”

Profhilo is also FDA-approved in the US, which entails many years of rigorous assessment in terms of both effectiveness and also patient safety.

Profhilo vs skincare

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring component in the body that performs many valuable functions. It lubricates the joints and can speed up wound healing, but in recent years the focus has been on its role in binding water in our dermis, keeping our skin hydrated, plump and supple.

Unfortunately, as we age, our natural hyaluronic acid depletes, which is why HA has become one of the key ingredients in any self-respecting skincare cream, oil or serum. Evidence suggests that the size of the HA molecule means it cannot penetrate beyond the skin’s epidermis into the deeper dermis. Although these products are great at protecting and moisturising the outer layers of the skin, they cannot deliver the same results as an injectable HA product such as Profhilo.

Profhilo vs dermal fillers

Profhilo is a temporary hyaluronic acid injectable that lifts and hydrates the skin to rejuvenate and reverse ageing changes. So, it’s not surprising that many patients believe it’s the same as other temporary hyaluronic acid dermal filler brands.

Profhilo is injected in five specific sites per side in the upper layer of the dermis, hydrating the skin and then stimulating collagen and elastin production to produce an overall rejuvenation and lifting effect. Dermal fillers target areas to replenish lost volume and increase collagen and elastin levels in that area over time.

At Karidis Clinic, we believe in a multi-faceted approach that treats the full range of ageing concerns. Profhilo is a fantastic addition to our arsenal. Still, it’s only one treatment and often works best in combination with dermal fillers, Anti-Wrinkle Injections, or our energy-based skin rejuvenation treatments.

Profhilo FAQs:

How long does Profhilo last?

The hyaluronic acid itself lasts in the dermis for approximately 28 days, but in this period, it triggers the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin, so you continue to see the benefits for six to nine months. This is based on having two treatments one month apart.

Once you notice a fading of your results, come back for another session to stimulate your skin’s hydration and glow.

What are the benefits of Profhilo?

Profhilo produces an instant hydration boost, followed by a gradual improvement in skin laxity. As well as improving fine lines and wrinkles, Profhilo can enhance the texture of the skin. It is particularly effective at reversing skin creping.

It can be used safely to deal with the signs of ageing on the face, neck, décolletage, back of the hands and even on areas of the body such as the chest, stomach, inner arms, and knees.

It has also been clinically proven to improve acne scarring.

How long does it take to see the results from Profhilo?

Profhilo results are not instantaneous in the way that dermal fillers are. You need two sessions spaced a month apart. Then, over the following weeks, you’ll see an improvement in your skin’s hydration and elasticity because of new collagen production.

Does Profhilo work for everyone?

Profhilo is composed of hyaluronic acid – at 64mg it’s got a higher concentration than dermal fillers. It is developed with NAHYCO Hybrid Technology, which means it is eight times less likely to degrade than any other dermal filler or skin booster, and it is also BDDE-free which equals less risk of inflammation or unsightly lumps and bumps. Its biocompatibility means it is safe for most patients. It also has limited downtime.

It is best suited to patients experiencing the first signs of ageing such as skin laxity, crepeiness, fine lines and wrinkles, and dry or rough skin texture.

Pregnant women should avoid undergoing a Profhilo treatment, as well as those allergic to hyaluronic acid or those suffering from autoimmune diseases.
