miraDry treatment for Hyperhidrosis provides lasting relief from excessive sweating using electromagnetic energy. Available at Karidis London.

miraDry is a safe, effective and FDA-approved long-lasting treatment for managing sweat and hyperhidrosis, the condition of excessive sweating. It's a clinically proven, non-invasive procedure carried out at the Karidis clinic. miraDry uses electromagnetic energy delivered to the skin using a specially designed hand piece. The energy is carefully targeted to the area where sweat glands are found and eliminates them. As sweat glands don’t grow back, the procedure gives a significant reduction in sweat.

Top 5 FAQs for for miraDry for excessive sweating

Why is miraDry recommended for hyperhidrosis?
Open Close

miraDry has been through clinical trials and is the first and only device cleared for underarm sweating by the US Food and Drug Administration. miraDry targets both eccrine glands and apocrine glands with miraWave™ energy, a unique electromagnetic wave delivered to the targeted area just below the dermis where the glands sit. Eccrine glands are located all over the body. They secrete an odourless, clear fluid that helps the body to control its temperature. Apocrine glands are located in the armpits and genitals. They produce a thick fluid which produces body odour when it comes into contact with bacteria on the skin’s surface.

How does the miraDry treatment work?

There are three steps to the procedure: 1. Your underarm is numbed with local anesthesia. 2. The miraDry hand piece is placed on the underarm and a vacuum suction from the hand piece brings the sweat glands closer to the surface to protect deeper tissue. A non-invasive energy is delivered through the skin which penetrates the sweat glands. 3. At the same time, a cooling system protects the skin and keeps the heat energy at the targeted area of the sweat glands. The glands are heated and then eliminated.

You will experience a significant reduction in underarm sweat and odour after just one treatment with miraDry. While it can be difficult to predict what your final result might be, in clinical studies, 90% of patients are satisfied with the results after one or two treatments. In addition, you will notice some underarm hair loss (around 70% has been reported in clinical studies) – which is thought to be permanent. For most people, this is seen as an additional benefit of treatment. Please note that miraDry will not result in a total cessation of sweating. Similar to laser hair removal, which results in around 80% permanent hair reduction, miraDry will cause, on average, an 80% permanent reduction in sweating from baseline levels. If you do not get the results that you were hoping for after one treatment, a second treatment can be undertaken at any point in the future (but generally after 3 months

There may be an occasional "hot spot" that lasts briefly but is usually well tolerated. On average, patients describe the discomfort as about a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest)
